Extremly rare Orlando Cimelia of his main work. Outstanding collection of vocal music in the 16th century. - The anthology published in 1604 by the sons Ferdinand and Rudolph Lasso had validity as a complete edition of the motetic works until the 20th century. Of the total of 516 works, 73 are published here for the first time. The volume summarizes the polyphonic art of the 16th century on the threshold of the new techniques of the early Baroque and the upheavals of the 30 Years War. Leonhard Lechner recommended to Duke Friedrich of Württemberg as early as 1604 to acquire several copies for Stuttgart and Mömpelgard. Starting with no. 475, the cantus is printed with the 7th voice double-sided. The first 24 two-voice pieces are included in the 5th/6th voice part books.
