None of the works can be found in JAP Online! 1) Very rare first edition of this Lauremberg edition, a new edition of the "Belligerasmus, id est Historia belli exorti in regno Musico" by Sartorius, first published in 1622. "In Belligerasmus, a fable about the battle between Bisthon and Orpheus, the 'leaders' of monophonic and polyphonic music, for the succession to Apollo forms the outer framework. The benefits and effects of music, arguments for and against polyphony and details of the doctrine of musica choralis and figuralos are discussed in speeches and reports on the formation of the 'armies'" (MGG). The pamphlet had already been preceded by other "Belli" and was itself the forerunner of Johann Beer's grotesquely illustrated Bellum Musicum of 1701 - RISM I, 485; Barclay Squire II, 25; Dünnhaupt IV, 2553, 31, 2.- 2) First edition of the historical overview, which begins with Adam and Eve, then deals with the rulers of the Assyrians, the ecclesiastical patriarchs, Greeks, Romans and Germanic tribes, among others, to end with Ferdinand III in 1638.
